My artisanal tiles are handmade from locally supplied, white stoneware clay that is fired in an electric kiln to approximately 2170 degrees Fahrenheit. They are suitable for indoor or outdoor installation (including kitchens, bathrooms and fireplaces) and recommended for vertical surfaces.
Depending on the design, these tiles are approximately 3/8" to 1/2" thick. This is generally thicker than most machine-made tiles. Please see each individual product description for measurement details.
These tiles are entirely handmade. It is unlikely that my tiles are perfectly square or perfectly flat (although I do my utmost to achieve this). It is my belief that these imperfections lend themselves to a unique character that is unachievable by machine-made replicas.
Displaying Decorative Tiles
Request a hook to be installed on the back of your tile to easily hang it on the wall. Alternatively, some of my clients choose to frame these tiles or display them on a tabletop easel without a hook.
Installing Decorative Tiles
You may use my handmade ceramic tiles as accents in an installation mixed with commercially made field tile or handmade field tile. Your local specialty store may be able to provide recommendations and advice on appropriate tile pairings.
Please select a tile installer who has previous experience with high quality, handmade tiles (or similar) and follows the installation guidelines set out by the Tile Council of North America.
Care of Ceramic Tiles
Clean tiles with gentle soap and soft, damp cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaning cloths and harsh chemicals, especially on surfaces embellished with gold lustre and mother-of-pearl.
